Ruby-throated Hummingbird

Description

A small hummingbird with iridescent green upperparts and white underparts. Males are distinguished by a brilliant iridescent ruby-red throat (gorget) and a forked tail. Females and immatures lack the ruby throat, having a white throat and often dusky streaking, and a rounded tail with white tips on the outer feathers. Known for their rapid wingbeats and hovering flight.
