Plumage DetailsMales have a black head, throat, and underparts, with a vibrant green ear patch and a bright yellow superciliary stripe extending from the eye to the nape. A yellow patch is also present on the side of the breast. The back and wings are dark green, contrasting with a reddish vent and a black tail tipped with chestnut on the outer feathers. The bill is predominantly black with a red base to the maxilla and a red stripe along the cutting edge of the mandible. Females are similar but have a chestnut-brown head and throat instead of black.
