Plumage DetailsUpperparts are mottled dark brown and black, providing excellent camouflage against tree bark and rocks. Underparts are paler, buffy-white to yellowish-brown, with prominent dark streaks on the breast and fine barring on the belly and flanks. Facial disc is indistinct, and eyes are a striking orange.
Vocalization / CallIts primary call is a deep, resonant 'hoo-hoo-hoo' or 'ooh-hoo', often given in a series of two to four notes. Females have a slightly higher-pitched call than males.
