Plumage DetailsAdult males have a grey crown and nape, a black face and throat, and a black back and wings with a prominent white patch on the secondary coverts. The breast, belly, and rump are bright orange, and the tail is black with orange outer tail feathers. Females are duller brown overall with an orange rump and tail, and a less distinct white wing patch.
Vocalization / CallThe song is a thin, high-pitched, somewhat scratchy warble. Calls include a sharp 'tack' or 'tsip' sound.
