Plumage DetailsMales exhibit brilliant deep blue on the crown, nape, back, wings, and tail, contrasted by a distinct black mask extending from the lores to behind the eye. The throat and breast are a vivid rufous-orange, fading to a paler buff on the belly. Females are duller, with brownish-olive upperparts and rufous-buff underparts.
