Plumage DetailsBreeding males are almost entirely a brilliant, iridescent cobalt blue, with darker blue-black markings on the lores, nape, and a distinct breast band. The tail is also blue. Females, non-breeding males, and immatures are predominantly grey-brown with a duller blue tail.

Description
The Splendid Fairywren is a small, insectivorous bird endemic to Australia, famous for the brilliant iridescent blue plumage of the breeding male. These active birds typically forage in dense undergrowth, often in family groups.
