Plumage DetailsMales are predominantly bright crimson red with numerous small white ocelli (spots) edged in black across their body. They have a black crown, deep blue facial skin, and a small black bill. During courtship, they can inflate two fleshy blue 'horns' and a large blue gular wattle. Females are duller, mottled brown and black with buff streaks and spots, providing camouflage.
