Plumage DetailsOverall dark brown to black body plumage with an iridescent green sheen on the back and neck. A large, conspicuous white patch is present on the secondary coverts of the wings. The head and upper neck are whitish, heavily mottled with black spots and streaks, giving a 'salt-and-pepper' appearance. The bill is dull orange-yellow with a black tip, and legs are dull orange.
Vocalization / CallGenerally a silent species, but males can produce a deep, resonant honking call, particularly at dawn and dusk, and a whistling call. Females have a croaking call.
