Plumage DetailsThe male Red-chested Flowerpecker has glossy dark blue-black upperparts, head, and wings. A prominent bright scarlet-red patch covers the throat and upper chest. The lower breast and belly are white, separated from the dark upperparts by a black stripe along the flanks. Females are duller, with olive-green upperparts and a pale yellowish-white belly, sometimes with a faint orange wash on the throat.
