Plumage DetailsThe head, throat, breast, and belly are glossy black. The back and upperwings are iridescent green, contrasted by a prominent bright blue patch on the lesser coverts of the wing. A distinctive rufous-orange stripe extends from the lores over the eye to the nape, and the vent and undertail coverts are bright red.
Vocalization / CallIts vocalizations include a distinctive, loud, two-note whistle, often described as 'walk-to-work' or 'twee-whit'. It also produces a softer 'whirr-whirr' call.
