Description
The Atlantic Puffin is a medium-sized seabird with a distinctive large, triangular, and brightly colored bill during the breeding season (red, yellow, and blue-grey). It has a black back and crown, white underparts, and a pale grey face with a dark collar. Its eyes are surrounded by a reddish ring. They are excellent swimmers and divers, using their wings to 'fly' underwater in pursuit of prey. The image clearly shows an adult Atlantic Puffin with its characteristic breeding plumage and bill coloration, holding a large catch of small fish (likely sandeels) in its specialized bill, a common sight when they are provisioning their chicks.
