Description

The Ruby-throated Hummingbird is a small, iridescent green hummingbird with a long, slender bill. Males are distinguished by a brilliant, iridescent ruby-red throat patch (gorget) and a forked tail. Females and juveniles lack the red gorget, having a white throat, and typically have a slightly rounded tail with white tips on the outer feathers.
