Plumage DetailsMales are highly iridescent with a metallic green head, a long, spoon-shaped green crest, and a prominent orange-red patch on the nape. The upperparts are a dazzling mix of metallic blue, purple, green, and bronze, with a white patch on the lower back (visible in flight). The tail is rufous-chestnut. Females are duller, predominantly dark brown with white streaking, a pale throat, and a smaller crest.
