Plumage DetailsThe Gilt-edged Tanager has a brilliant golden-yellow head and nape, contrasted by a distinct black mask extending from the lores to the ear-coverts and a black chin. Its back and wings are green, with each feather edged in black, creating a scaled or 'gilt-edged' appearance. The rump is green, while the breast and belly are a vivid turquoise-blue. The undertail coverts are rufous, and the tail and flight feathers are blackish with green edging.
