Plumage DetailsThe plumage is predominantly mottled brown and black on the upperparts, with buff and rufous markings providing excellent camouflage. The underparts are paler, streaked with dark brown. It features a less defined facial disc compared to some owls, and its most distinctive features are the large, erect ear tufts and piercing bright orange eyes.
