Plumage DetailsAdults have a dark grey body, a darker head and neck with a prominent shaggy crest. The back is dark, and the flanks are finely barred grey. A white speculum (wing patch) is visible on the secondary flight feathers, especially in flight. The bill is slender and serrated, and the legs and feet are reddish.
